THE CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD THE "LITTLE CHURCH" Our "Children's Liturgy", or "Little Church", was started around 10 years ago and now takes place at the 10:00 Sunday Mass. The Children's Liturgy is a way of making God's Word, through the readings of the day, relevant to the children's lives. At Mass, God's Word speaks to all of us and by taking the children aside, into the sacristy, we can relate His Word in ways they can understand. This can take various forms. We read a children's version of the Gospel and/or other readings for a particular Sunday, and we might read a story that highlights the Gospel message. We might 'act out' the Gospel to bring alive its message. We might also find songs relevant to the theme, and this usually makes the session more enjoyable! The children play an active part and we ask them to think of examples in their own lives that show they understand and are living their lives in a way that is pleasing to God. The children sometimes produce a piece of work that represents their understanding and deliver this to the altar when they return to "Big Church", and they always undertake the Offertory Procession to help them to understand that they are an important part of the overall Service. We have a team of parishioners who lead the Children's Liturgy, always assisted by additional helpers each Sunday, with the rota being co-ordinated by Gill Egan - if you are interested in becoming involved at the Children's Liturgy please contact Gill. If you can't do your allocated week please try to swap with someone, or contact Gill Egan.
