Online Faith Resources

On a weekly basis, Fr Simon is recommending useful on-line sources for explaining and celebrating our Faith. There is so much out there, that it can be hard to find reliable and orthodox sites that will not lead us astray.

These links will be reproduced here for your ongoing interest..........

2nd November -

The Uncommon Sense Podcast - YouTube

Run by the Society of G K Chesterton. G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was one of the greatest and most prolific writers of the 20th century. A convert to Catholicism, he is well known for his Father Brown mystery stories and for his reasoned defense of the Christian faith. To say nothing of his many pithy sayings:

Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried.

12th October - Zenit, which is a non-profit International News Agency, made up of a team of professionals and volunteers, which transmits the message of the Pope and of the Church.

As well as news of Papal events and documents, it has a huge amount of information from who is in charge of which departments, Papal documents, links to the Catechism and the Code of Canon Law... to virtual tours of the major Basilicas in Rome. Have a browse by clicking on the link below!

31 August.... I'd like to recommend Catholic World Report.

It is a free online magazine that examines the news from a faithfully Catholic perspective. After more than 20 years as the leading Catholic journal of news, analysis, and commentary, CWR moved its content entirely online—no subscription required—in January 2012.

CWR provides full coverage of the news and events affecting the Church around the world, offering in-depth analysis while exploring issues the mainstream media avoids. It features exclusive interviews, covers a host of relevant topics, and offers an unwavering commitment to the truth in light of the Gospel.

Catholic World Report – Global Church news and views

24 August.... I'd like to recommend The Pillar. This has become a well read and reliable source for catholic news.

" The Pillar upholds the highest standards of journalistic independence and craftsmanship. We're independent of any ecclesial agenda but the holiness of the Church and its members - we won't be afraid to tell the stories that need to be told, but we'll tell them with integrity and fairness.

We'll be reverent, but not sanctimonious. Prudent, but not prudish. We don't think Catholic journalism has to be cloying or puritanical, because we don't think the Christian life should be lived that way. We believe in truth, and we believe that the Church is founded by Christ and lived as a society. We live in that society, and believe its life is worth reporting well."

10 August.... I'd like to recommend EWTN: The Eternal Word Television Network. Although based in the USA it has an outpost here in Britain at Walsingham. As well as all sorts of programming, it also livestreams big Papal events and allows you to hear a Catholic commentary on them.
